Dystopian Novel: (n)a story that revolves around a hellish, usually politically driven world that is, within the story itself, viewed as utopia. The plot usually follows one or more characters that slowly come to the realization that their world is not as perfect as society or the government is telling everyone.
What is your favorite Dystopian Novel?

Often, when a piece of literature has a deeply political purpose, it falls short at the aesthetic level.  And often, that’s just fine—a book need not be everything all at once.  The Handmaid’s Tale, though, does both.  It is devastating and beautiful.  I read it more than ten years ago, and yet when I saw this image of the cover today, I trembled.
